TITLE:  Bus Driver

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  

 

  1. High School diploma or valid G.E.D.
  2. Valid CDL license and Bus Driving Certification
  3. Able to demonstrate aptitude for the workto be performed
  4. A history of good attendance, being dependable and punctual
  5. Able to work efficiently without direct supervision
  6. Able to communicate effectively with children and adults

REPORTS TO:  Transportations Manager

 

JOB GOALS:  To provide students with safe and efficient transportation.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Observes all mandatory safety regulationsand traffic laws for school buses.
  2. Maintains discipline when students are on the bus and reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
  3. Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects and maintains bus cleanliness.  Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure.
  4. Transports only authorized students to and from their authorized stops.
  5. Enforces all passenger safety rules and regulations.
  6. Notifies the appropriate authories of all accidents by completing the required reports.  Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
  7. Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of district school trips.
  8. All of duties as may be assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Nine-month year.  Hourly rate and workdays to be established by the Board approved schedules.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Staff.
